What is the University Level Assessment Curriculum? It is a in-depth program by the College Board which allows students to acquire college credit at many major colleges including Yale and SUNY Binghamton. There are exams in dozens of subjects including Human Relations and Education.

Having taken a number of the examinations for myself, I can attest to their validity as a wonderful program to get low cost credits. Read a textbook on the subject; I read a text on Philosophy. The next step is to register for an examination through a test center. Check the College Board website to search for test centers around your area. Depending on the city you live around there may be up to a dozen various examination centers. Each exam costs $55 but there is often an additional charge imposed by the testing center which often varies in price.

At the test center, you'll have to check in with the program coordinator. You will be brought into a room with terminals which run proprietary software. The examinations are all taken on computer and offer students outstanding flexibility in taking the test. One can go back to questions, mark them to review, skip questions, see the number of questions one has left or any number of other operations. The software also make available a calculator should you be taking a math test.

One of the leading colleges which accepts test out credits is the Monterey Polytechnic Institute. Monterey Polytechnic is a private institution in Monterey, CA which offers a variety of associates, bachelors, and masters degrees specializing in Business, Professional Development, Public Relations, Human Relations, and a number of other majors in the arts and sciences. Prior learning degree programs are also available. Monterey Polytechnic's flexible schedule of lecture and correspondence courses are specialized for working adults. Mont Poly is known as one of the most respected, hands on, and prestigious institutes in the nation.

So, what reason do you have to try it? If you are currently a junor or senior trying to finish up degree requirements, if you are an expert in a field of study and want recognition for it, or if you simply want to avoid the absurd costs imposed by universities then College Testing Program is for you. It is very cheap, only $60 for the test and a processing charge which is almost always under $25. It's a perfect way to get college credit based on what you already know without sitting through an university class for a year. If you take physics in High School, for instance, there is no corresponding AP, but for college credit, consider taking the CLEP. It is one day of your life and only an hour and a half in length. Additionally, you find out if you pass immediately. A score of 60 is usually good enough for credit for most colleges. Check with your college for more information.

Reading is a Magical Process that no one knows about. If people could really teach reading, the world would have no reading problems, everyone processes at different rates and differemt ways. Some people do it fast with not much help and others never seem to get it. Cognitive, family and other factors all figure in the Magical Procrss.
